Pear Preserves Recipe With Pectin

When it comes to preserving the flavors of summer, nothing beats the taste of homemade pear preserves. Whether you’re looking for a delicious topping for your morning toast or a sweet topping for a cake, pear preserves are sure to satisfy. With just a few simple ingredients and some store-bought pectin, you can create a delicious batch of preserves in no time.

Making your own pear preserves at home is surprisingly easy and requires minimal ingredients. Pectin is the key to creating the perfect texture, and luckily it’s readily available in most grocery stores. Pectin helps to thicken the preserve mixture so it reaches the desired consistency without having to cook it too long. The result is a spreadable, sweet and tangy topping that’s full of flavor.

To start making your own pear preserves with pectin, you’ll need to gather a few items. You’ll need about six to eight large pears, depending on how much you want to make. Make sure to use ripe pears, as they will add natural sweetness to your preserves. You’ll also need one cup of sugar, two tablespoons of lemon juice, one package of store-bought pectin, and a pinch of salt.

Once you have all of your ingredients together, it’s time to start cooking. Start by peeling and coring the pears, then cut them into small cubes. Place them in a large saucepan with the sugar, lemon juice, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once it’s boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Next, turn off the heat and stir in the package of pectin. Continue stirring until the pectin is completely dissolved. Then, turn the heat back on and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Let it boil for one minute, then remove it from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.

Once the mixture has cooled slightly, pour it into sterilized jars and seal them tightly. Allow the preserves to cool completely before storing them in the refrigerator. They should keep for up to three months. Serve your homemade pear preserves with toast, muffins, scones, or any other baked goods. Enjoy!
